Organisational Change is a constant Evolving Process

Image
The inevitability of Organisational CHANGE....   I needed to share this story because it buttresses the fact that only people with foresight, a strategy of planning, those who are aware of trends and how it would affect their lives and businesses and analyse how the results of their findings would benefit them progressively would dominate in their areas of industry.   About nine years ago, I led the HR function of an organisation operating in the digital space and one of the HR initiatives I was particularly passionate about was a flexible working structure currently termed Hybrid Working . At that time, the use of technology was in full bloom and a lot of big brands were tilted towards using the social media to capture certain target market for their products and services.   It was obvious at that people could work from anywhere in as much as they deliver on their job. All they needed were the appropriate resources and work tools to get the work done. The snag ...

AGEISM - An unfair employment practice by hiring managers

Image
Hire people for their competence. Stop the age discrimination  ....  Ageism is a form of discrimination against a person because of their age. It involves stereotyping people using the peculiarities you feel are inherent in the age bracket they fall under to judge them and therefore not giving them access to or considering them for equal open job opportunities.. Let's stop stereotyping people for employment based on their age.   In recent times, I have heard conversations from friends and colleagues of how it is becoming tougher each day getting a job . They say that hiring managers seem to prefer hiring the millennials and the more recent generations of job applicants over them.   I do feel concerned about this and in my curious mind, I can only surmise that organisations who are using this criteria as a hiring metric may just be shooting themselves in the foot.   I say this because this is purely an employment discrimination and stereotyping. Keeping your Sanity Intact

Image
How are you keeping your 'SANITY' in recent times? Whoosh! an exclamation, right? Well, the essence of my post is #bedeliberateaboutkeepingyoursanity There's so much going on around the world in recent times and this has led a lot of people regardless of the age bracket they fall into to be diagnosed with a high blood pressure. The uncertainty is just too enormous to bear and manage for most people. High blood pressure is a silent killer and most often than not , it does not display any symptoms. It therefore behooves on each one of us to be deliberate about maintaining our sanity and stress levels. These few tips can make a difference: Keep a grateful spirit always. There's always light at the end of the tunnel and your situation could have been worse. Meditate. Take out time to be on your own. Evaluate yourself Make a conscious effort to be present in your surroundings. Don't lose yourself to unnecessary distractions Have a closing time for work Ensure to have a...

Embracing a Culture of Internal Multigenerational Workforce for Increased Productivity - A SMART Employee Engagement Strategy

Image
With the rise in the job hopping trend of the millennial generation who are predominantly restless, the loyalty  and leadership potentials of gen Xers and the baby boomers should be explored / developed to full capacity  by employers especially when a high staff turnover rate means higher employment costs for the company. Organisations that have a multi generational workforce and the right employee engagement strategies in place are reaping the benefits in immense proportions. Discriminating against one generation over the other can be termed as stereotyping. Let it be known that each generation has something to gain from the other   Folu' Rotimi Lead People, Operations, Strategy & Culture ROFOD Resources

Communication & Feedback - An important Employee Engagement Driver

Image
An important Employee Engagement Driver is Constant Feedback & Communication. It has become increasingly more so in recent times with the constant need to initiate changes into the workplace and business operations in order for organisations to remain competitive and survive the volatilities of the external macro economic and business realities There are many employee engagement drivers, however, communication and feedback tops the list. Organisations who hoard information from their employees is actually doing a disservice to their business growth. If employees are not receiving constant feedback on their work and they are not given the freedom to communicate or being communicated with, then, you may as well have hired zombies. Even robots needs to be given feedback on their performance for improvement, to review their deliverables or to discard irrelevant work and processes.  This is required to optimise their work performance delivery outputs. Be your own best ''CHEERLEADER''

Image
I sometimes wish I could predict what next or where my life's journey's going to take me to. Although, my predictions may not be accurate, however, in my mind, I could picture what I want to become in life. These thoughts of becoming propels me to moving daily to work towards achieving my desired goals. What exactly is limiting you? Who or what are you afraid of? Would you rather be unhappy throughout your life? Do or did you really think you can hide yourself so much that people would not talk about you? Well, you are mistaken. As a matter of fact, hiding or shielding yourself is a disservice to your progress in life. The fact is, whether you do good or bad, people would talk. The best thing in life is ‘Freedom’’. Why limit your ability to move forward doing things you love and make you happy by your thoughts of self doubt and what people think of you? Nah, it’s not worth it. Never, No! To protect your sanity, strive on being the 'show'. They want to talk, then give ...
