Organisational Change is a constant Evolving Process
The inevitability of Organisational CHANGE....
I needed to share this story because it buttresses the fact that only people with foresight, a strategy of planning, those who are aware of trends and how it would affect their lives and businesses and analyse how the results of their findings would benefit them progressively would dominate in their areas of industry.
About nine years ago, I led the HR function of an organisation operating in the digital space and one of the HR initiatives I was particularly passionate about was a flexible working structure currently termed Hybrid Working. At that time, the use of technology was in full bloom and a lot of big brands were tilted towards using the social media to capture certain target market for their products and services.
It was obvious at that people could work from anywhere in as much as they deliver on their job. All they needed were the appropriate resources and work tools to get the work done. The snag then in getting the higher ups to be totally on board with this work model was that they didn't feel that the Nigerian staff were ready to adopt it, major of which was the lack of trust
in the employee’s work ethics.
Fast forward to the present, almost every organisation has adopted the hybrid work structure. 'I did smile writing this piece'
It is okay to be scared especially when not sure of the outcome of change. However, with the right processes and structures in place, measurement metrics and how this change would impact the organisation, would help to determine whether it is a worthy venture to embark on.
You cannot be in business without taking 'calculated' risks, right?
In summary, organisations should empower their change management and organisational development experts to advise on people management initiatives that are present and future focused, analyse their reports and adopt the changes that is in concurrence with the current and predictive future in order to remain relevant in their industry and not be caught unawares in a world filled with so many uncertainties.
This is being smart and building an organisation that is future proof. An organisation that would stand the test of times.
Now businesses are faced with an economy of rising inflation coupled with talent mobility and increasingly flight risk employees.
Does your organisation have a working strategy in place to manage this or are you still doing business as usual?
