Being content with the STATUS QUO can be damaging to one's life
Quick Question π€
Are you awake to your environment, or slugging through life without equipping yourself to embrace and align with the changes that presents itself?
Being satisfied with status quo leads to a perpetual stagnation of all things progressive.
Status quo is a Latin word for existing state
Ponder on this, π‘The state of things in recent times has laid more credence to the fact that change is the only constant thing in life. Nothing is permanent because the world is constantly evolving and only those with a higher purposeful mindset would survive the turbulences that would continuously prevail
Asking these self-examination questions could help to measure your current position in the scheme of things:π
- Do I detest change?
- Am I constantly trying to develop and upskill myself?
- Am I afraid of standing alone and be unpopular for my stance when I know I am right?
- Do I suck up to my bosses /
people and sing their praises even when I know they are wrong?
- Am I ever curious, staying
aware of current trends and how to apply my findings to better my efficiency on
the job or proffer solutions to problems in my workplace?
- Do I hate going to work but
feel defeated to change my current situation?
- Do I think I don’t need more
learnings and satisfied with my current state?
- Do I set goals that propels my daily
activities?
- Do I exhibit a self-entitlement
mindset?
Your answers to these questions would
determine your perspective and prerogative on the type of mindset you wield.
In summary, all I can say is never be satisfied with the existing state. Enjoy the proceeds or dividends of being part of a situation if any at any particular time, but constantly equip yourself to be able to withstand any disruption that may come (remember, the world is constantly evolving). Never get too comfortable with the status quo.
My personal tips
Although, I am still a work in progress,
but this is how I strive to stay sure-footed in life’s daily struggles:
- I constantly try to remain agile (physically, emotionally & mentally) as an individual.
- I do not carry my status or my achievements on my head because I have come to a realisation that there would always be someone out there a step or ten ahead of me in life. Having this mentality, therefore, challenges me to be a better version of myself and daily propels me to improving on my current abilities through different learning experiences, asking relevant questions, relying on data to make informed decisions, never undermining historical events, and to keep abreast of local and global trends.
Lastly, before taking any decisions, thinking
about the consequences of an action enables one to be analytical, accountable and disciplined . However, should you go off track, (you are not
a superhuman) then, apologise immediately, make amends, and retrace your steps
to start again. Even the bible in Matthew 18:21-25, Jesus's reply to Peter when he was asked the question of how many times should one forgive his brother's wrong doings, was, seventy times seven times (ha ha)π€―.
Please, don’t just stay content with the STATUS QUO. Doing so is at your own detriment and the stance of a foolish mindset.
The Question therefore should be, 'How does one stay afloat and not drown in the turbulence we are currently experiencing in every facet of our lives?'
πAre you just living for its sake or are you
ensuring you stay relevant?
Please, share your
personal tips in the comment section of the post. The reality is that in these times, we all
need to learn from one another.
